Gillian Rice Maupin joined Wendy H. Schwartz and Associates in the fall of 2017. Gillian works with clients in Washington, D.C. and the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has been a practicing litigator for nine years and has represented clients in all areas of domestic relations, including adoption, divorce, custody, visitation, equitable distribution, support, valuation of businesses and other property, the negotiation and preparation of both premarital and comprehensive settlement agreements, and post-divorce enforcement and modification actions. Gillian is also certified by the Virginia Supreme Court as a qualified Guardian ad litem for children and regularly represents parents as court appointed counsel in the Virginia juvenile and circuit courts.
Gillian’s passion is to bring effective results for her clients, whether through negotiation, mediation or litigation. She works to bring superior and compassionate representation to her clients around any family law issue with which they are confronted.
Gillian was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia where she received a B.A. in Government with Distinction in 2005. She attended law school at the University of Virginia School of Law where she earned her J.D. in 2008. After law school, Gillian spent four years as a Litigation Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in Washington, D.C. She then joined the Law Offices of Lowe & Carlo in Alexandria, Virginia where she devoted her practice exclusively to family law matters. Gillian lives in Alexandria with her husband and young daughter.
